Vacation in Spain
Tapas, olive oil, paella and red wine – Spain offers tourists more than the typical pictures of guitar music and flamenco dancing.
According to Countryaah, Spain, known for bullfighting and flamenco, is the third largest country in Europe with an area of more than 500,000 km 2. It extends not only on the mainland over the Iberian Peninsula, but also the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Ibiza and Menorca) and the Canaries (Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife) belong to the national territory.
Beach vacation in the Balearic and Canary Islands
As a popular holiday destination, Spain has something to offer for everyone. Numerous tourists travel to the Iberian Peninsula every year to spend their holidays in one of the party metropolises of the Balearic Islands – Mallorca or Ibiza – after all, the Ballermann in Mallorca – or as it is called in Spain Platja de Palma – is considered the largest party location in summer Europe. Numerous bars and nightclubs can be found here over a distance of around 5 km. German pop music is predominantly played in the bars at Ballermann.
If you want to spend your vacation by the sea, the Canary Islands with their fine sandy beaches are ideal. The largest island is Tenerife. In the center of this island is the Teide volcanic crater. This represents the highest point on Tenerife as well as in Spain. After Tenerife, the second largest island is the surfers paradise Fuerteventura. While there are wide beaches on the east coast, the west of Fuerteventura consists to a large extent of a steep coast that is well worth seeing. After Tenerife and Fuerteventura, the third largest island is Gran Canaria. Many tourists spend their holidays especially in the places Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés and San Agustín in the tourist centers in the south of the island.
City break to Spain
There is also a lot to discover on the mainland of Spain, such as the cities of Valencia, Barcelona or Madrid, the capital of Spain. Madrid is not only the seat of the Spanish government, but also the residence of the Spanish King Juan Carlos. If you get the chance to see Athletico Madrid or any other football team, don’t miss it. Football in Spain is an experience in itself, and not just since Spain became European champions and 2010 world champions.
Madrid has many sights that can be visited, such as the Royal Palace, the Plaza Mayor, the Prado, the Almudena Cathedral or the bullring. Madrid is known worldwide among sports enthusiasts primarily for the Real Madrid football club, which is one of the most successful clubs in Europe.
